INTRODUCTION Light colored grout, and especially white grout, will sometimes develope a yellow stain. For many years the tile trade has puzzled over the cause and has no answers. However, the following procedure has been found to be effective in removing the yellow stain. PROCEDURE A. Use a single solution of 5% nitric acid and 5% Hydrogen Peroxide. B. Keep solution fresh -- not over one day old. C. Avoid getting the solution on the skin or clothing. D. Brush the solution on the joints with nylon or fibre brushes E. Flush or sponge off with clean water within five minutes. INGREDIENTS In order to make a 5% solution, purchase the items from a CHEMICAL WHOLESALE HOUSE. Hydrogen Peroxide, 30%, J.T. Baker Catalog #2186. Dilute with 6 parts of distilled water (keep in refrigerator). Nitric Acid, 70%, J.T. Baker Catalog #9601. Dilute with 14 parts of distilled water. Combine the two for the single solution to use for cleaning off yellow stain.
